Energy Efficiency Products

Energy efficiency products make your home more efficient and help to reduce your energy usage and running costs.

Community Home Solutions have access to a range of energy efficiency products that could help you.

Loft Insulation

Loft insulation is a layer of material (a combination of mineral fibres, cellular glass and foamed plastic) laid in your roof space that traps heat, reducing the amount of heat through the floor of the loft.

It is laid between the joists (the horizontal beams along the floor in your roof).

Up to a quarter of a home’s heat can be lost through the roof space. Insulating your loft slows down the transfer of heat between your living space and the outside world.

Insulation not only warms your home in winter, but keeps it cool in summer.

Cavity Wall Insulation

Around a third of all heat lost from a poorly insulated home escapes from the walls meaning cavity wall insulation is often one of the most cost effective measures available to a home.

Generally, if your house was built in 1990 or afterwards, it will already have wall insulation. However, if your house is older, you may have cold, unfilled cavities.

A cavity wall is made of two separate thin walls (usually built of brick and known as ‘skins’ or ‘leaves’) with a gap between them. They’re usually held together by metal wall ties. Insulation is injected through the outer wall into the space between the inner and outer leaves of brick work.

Air Source Heat Pumps

A heat pump is a low-carbon way to heat your home. It's a sustainable replacement for fossil fuel heating such as gas, oil or LPG, and can help reduce your household's carbon footprint.

In the simplest terms, a heat pump moves heat from one place to another. A heat pump moves the heat from outside to inside to increase the indoor temperature.

Although they are powered by electricity, heat pumps typically deliver three to four units of heat for each unit of electricity needed to run them. This is much more efficient than gas boilers, for example, which produce less than one unit of heat for each unit of gas used.

Smart Heating Controls

Smart Heating Controls show how your home is being heated in real time. This is because they use the internet so you can control your heating from anywhere via smart phone, tablet or computer.

Allowing you to switch off your heating when you are out and about and control it as and when you need it will help reduce your bills.

Solar Photovoltaics

Solar Photovoltaic systems convert energy from the sun into electricity. You can save money by harvesting this free energy.

A solar PV system comprises of solar panels, an invertor, isolator switches, a PV generation meter and cables.

The panels can generate electricity as long as it’s light, but the stronger the sunlight, the better they will work.

You can benefit from solar panels even when you are not at home through the Smart Export Guarantee. This is where excess renewable energy generated but not used is transferred back to the National Grid. Energy Suppliers offer tariffs to purchase this energy.

New Boilers

Newer and more modern boilers offer efficient and quiet heating, cutting costs while reducing your carbon footprint. Equipped with advanced technology to minimize water wastage and often wireless connectivity for convenient control.

These new boilers not only provide reliable warmth but also prioritise sustainability, making them a smart investment for environmentally conscious homeowners.
