How does External Wall Insulation work?

External Wall Insulation (EWI) involves adding insulating material to the outside of your walls. This process helps improve your home's energy efficiency by reducing heat loss through the walls by as much as 25% and lowering energy consumption. It also minimises draughts, tackles condensation and damp, and creates a more comfortable living space.

*External Wall Insulation is a complex and expensive measure to install. Our funding doesn't always cover the cost of this measure, and therefore, Internal Wall Insulation can be an alternative solution for Solid Wall homes.

How do we install External Wall Insulation?

Firstly, scaffolding is set up to access the walls safely. The walls are cleaned and repaired if needed, then rigid insulation boards are fixed in place. A base coat with reinforcing mesh is applied to strengthen the surface, followed by a final render. Once everything is dry, the scaffolding is removed, leaving your home warmer, more energy efficient, and with a fresh new look.
