What is the Warm Homes: Local Grant?

The Warm Homes: Local Grant is a UK government-funded scheme that provides free energy-saving upgrades to low-income, energy inefficient households in England. The scheme runs from April 2025 to March 2028.

The scheme aims to reduce fuel poverty and carbon emissions by funding improvements like insulation, heat pumps and solar panels through local councils.

Do you qualify for the Warm Homes: Local Grant?

WH:LG is targeted at both homeowners and private landlords. The fund targets properties with low Energy Performance Ratings. Eligible households under WH:LG could benefit from the installation of Energy Efficiency Measures such as: Solar PV, Loft Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, Solid Wall Insulation and Air Source Heat Pumps.

You could be eligible if you have an energy-inefficient home and have a gross annual household income of less than £36,000, or be in receipt of a means-tested benefit, or if you live in a designated low-income area. See the specific criteria below:

1. Do you own your home or live in a privately rented property?

2. Is your EPC rating D, E, F or G

3. Is your Gross Annual Household income below £36,000

4. Are you or someone in your household in receipt of an eligible means-tested benefit*

5. Do you live in an eligible postcode**

6. You are eligible for a home assessment

*Eligible benefits;

  • Universal Credit
  • Pension Credit (savings and guarantee)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Income-base Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

This pathway is not active in every Local Authority area.
